It was the biggest moment of her career – walking in front of millions in the Opening Ceremony of the Rio Olympics.
But model Gisele Bundchen’s devoted husband Tom Brady was not there to witness her starring role – due to his own career as starquarterback for the New England Patriots.
Ahead of the upcoming football season, the 39-year-old was in the middle of training camp, he has explained.

The 2016 Olympic Games in Rio may have drawn world class athletes from around the world, but it was Gisele Bundchen that stole the show in a stunning gown by Alexandre Herchcovitch.
The supermodel strutted her stuff in front of thousands of people in what might have been her biggest catwalk moment to date. So of course she needed a dress that was going to wow the crowd.
And that’s exactly what this custom made confection did. Covered in sparkly sequins with a flattering wrap silhouette, plunge neckline and thigh high slit, Gisele’s number oozed sex appeal without being too over the top.

‘For me, [the Olympics] are right in the middle of training camp so I need to talk my coach out of a couple days of practice,’ he told People in an interview given weeks before last night’s ceremony.
‘I haven’t asked them so, we’ll see!’
Inevitably, Tom could not get out of his training commitments, but that did not prevent Gisele, 36, from performing a graceful runway walk.

Although she still models, the mother-of-two retired from the catwalk in April of last year, after over a 20-year-career.
Ahead of her Summer Olympics debut, the star previously explained her nervousness in an interview with People.
‘This is for sure the longest runaway I have ever walked in my life and by far with the most amount of people watching, so it is a little nerve wracking I must say,’ she confessed.
‘This is a very special moment for my country and I am humbled that they invited me to be a part of such a special celebration.’

Gisele, a native Brazilian, wasn’t alone for her time in Rio.
Son Benjamin, five, and daughter Vivian, three, were also along for the adventure.
Prior to her glamours runway walk, the trio enjoyed family time together at a restaurant.

Although it is not known if her young ones attended the event, the supermodel had the support of her family.
‘Most of my family will be here for the ceremony. We just love being together no matter what we are doing. My family loves talking and sharing since we don’t get to do that very often. It’s also so nice to have all the kids together and see how they are interacting,’ said Gisele of her time in Rio.
