General Counsel of Breitling Energy Corporation charged in far-reaching SEC case – InsideCounsel

The general counsel of Breitling Energy Corporation (BECC) is among those charged by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in a wide investigation of the company for oil and gas fraud.

The SEC said it charged Jeremy S. Wagers, 39, of Dallas, general counsel and chief operating officer of BECC, with violations of the antifraud, reporting, recordkeeping and internal controls provisions of federal securities laws. The SEC also charged Wagers with lying to auditors.
