Police: Man stole nearly $53K in Rolex watches in Hanover – CapitalGazette.com
Police are searching for a man they said stole three Rolex watches valued at $52,700 in total from a Hanover jewelry store on Friday.
Anne Arundel police said officers were called to the Helzberg Diamonds store at 7000 Arundel Mills Circle in Hanover at 7:35 p.m.
An employee told police that a man used a revolver handgun to smash a glass display case and stole the three watches before running out of the store. The man did not threaten anyone at the store with the weapon, police said, and no one was reported injured.
Police spokesman Lt. Ryan Frashure said police “definitely consider it a brazen theft” considering the timing of the alleged robbery.
Located at Suite 457 inside the Arundel Mills mall, Frashure said the robbery occurred during a time when the mall would’ve been heavily populated, early evening on Friday.
“(It’s) certainly unusual for someone to commit a theft at that time,” Frashure said.
He added that it was the first time he’d heard of the store being robbed.
Anyone with information as to the man’s identity or whereabouts is asked to call the Metro Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-866-756-2587 or to send a text message reading “MCS” followed by the information to 274637.
